HIRE A LAWYER WHO IS NOT AFRAID TO FIGHT
My name is Steve Bartlett and I am an experienced Board Certified Criminal Trial Attorney who is not afraid to fight for my clients. Although many lawyers describe themselves as aggressive or fearless, I have a proven documented history of fighting against the powerful. You can read about some of my cases in the news section of this webpage.
NOT AFRAID TO TAKE ON JUDGES
In 2010, I became the only lawyer in Florida to ever cross examine a chief circuit court judge in a criminal case. (See article For 16 Hours of Freedom ) The Chief Judge told the reporter for the St. Petersburg Times that my cross examination caused him to feel anxiety and taught him that "Judges and lawyers should know that people do get anxiety when they testify."
In another case that was filmed by Court T.V. I won the acquittal for a man accused of felonious stalking of a circuit court judge. I successfully argued that my client was being persecuted for exercising his constitutionally protected right to criticize a judge and seek his removal. (See article Judge Testifies Man Stalked Him ) As a result of my refusal to backdown in that trial, the St. Peterburg Times determined that I was not in the group of lawyers that "are brown-nosers and love to suck up to judges." (See article Who Cares if it Please the Court)
NOT AFRAID TO TAKE ON THE POLICE
In 2004, I presented evidence that members of the Tarpon Springs Police Department were planting drugs in my client’s car. As a result, charges were not filed against my client for those drugs and the Tarpon Springs Police Department then became a target of state investigation. (See article A State Investigation of Drug Arrests)
NOT AFRAID TO TAKE ON THE MAFIA
In 2007, I successfully sued two mafia associates of the Columbo crime family who had previously threatened to kill my client after forcing them to borrow money from loan sharks to pay off gambling debts. (See article Couple Told to Pay Up in Mafia Case)
Because I am not afraid to take on the police, judges, or even the mafia, I won’t be afraid to fight for you!
